LET THERE BE SUN! I don’t know about you guys but the last time I saw a beach and consistently gorgeous hot weather was when I was working in Mexico last year. I mean, a girl has needs, you know?! I still want to rock my “beach babe” attire, even if it means slathering tan-in-a-can all over my body and pretending that I’ve been lounging at the beach or pool. I say, “fake it ’til you make it!”; if you wish it, good things will come! Here is my version of beach-to-street style to inspire you this weekend!
Crochet top – Winners $19.99
I remember owning tons of these crocheted tops back in the 90’s; I should have kept them all, I would have been SOOO on trend!;) I love layering this over a tank or bandeau with short (as seen above) or with a maxi skirt and wedge heels for a chic evening look (…also great as a swim suit cover!)
Bermuda Shorts – J Crew $37.99 (from $56)
I love bermuda shorts, and these 5″ chino shorts are super comfy and the perfect length for me. They are available in a variety of lengths and colors, are appropriate for work (with a crisp collar shirt, blazer and loafers), or for the weekend (with a basic t-shirt, keds and cool shades).
Colorful Bikini – Old Navy $19
Although I don’t have the body of some of our Olympic Volleyball players, I still like to have fun with color. Swimwear is not the easiest to shop for, but once you know the style that works best for your body type (aka: Nadia’s Style Rule #1 “SASS”: Shop According to your Style & Silhouette) , the styles and colors are endless.
T-Strap sandal flats – Aldo “Sprouls” Sandal $27.99 (from $60)
I picked these sandals up a few weeks ago and I’ve been wearing them almost every day since. They are simple and classic and work with everything, (ie. skinny jeans, maxi dress, denim cut off shorts etc…)
Straw Bag – Club Monaco “Bridgette Bag” $39
This bag is reminds me of when my mom and I used to go to the beach together as a child. She would back up her big beach bag with snacks and magazines, and we would hang out together! A staple bag for the summer season!
Sunless Tanner – “Shopper’s Drug Mart “Life Sun Therma3 starting at $9 (Visit Connie and her staff at the Yaletown Shopper’s for more information)
Cheap and cheerful, this sunless tanner provides one of the best bronze color I have ever seen. Every time I apply it, people ask me if I was away on vacation. It’s odorless, provides instant color and becomes darker with multiple applications. Available in a cream or spray formulation. Note: when using the spray version, be sure to apply it in the bath tub or shower as it tends to get a little messy.
Happy Friday! xoxo
