The holidays are upon us, and in this week’s makeup tutorial, as seen in The Province and The Vancouver Sun Newspaper,  I’m showing you how to achieve a classic cat-eye and red lip combo; ideal for any festive occasion!

You’ll want to start by evening out the complexion with foundation and contouring the face with a light dusting of bronzing powder. For get a soft and supple glow on the skin, lightly sweep the cheekbones and peek points of the face with a skin illuminating powder like the MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in “Soft and Gentle”.

Prime the eye lid with a cream-based eye shadow base. I’m using MAC Paint Pot in “Soft Ocre”. It’s a beige-nude color, which brightens the eyelid and eliminates any red undertones in the skin. It’s a lovely based to use it on it’s own for everyday.

Using a medium blender eye shadow brush, sweep the crease of the eye with “Jetsetter” eye shade from the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom” shadow palette. This will add depth to the eye and create a soft and neutral contoured effect.

Hold the outer corner of your eye tautly with one hand, then draw line from the center of the eyelid upwards and outward towards the outer corner of the eye. The line should gradually get thicker as you get to the outer corner. I suggest using the Make Up For Ever XL Waterproof Pencil in M10 for it’s soft-gliding and easy application.

Using a firm angled liner brush, gently extend the outer corner of the liner to create a slightly winged-out out effect.

Curl the lashes and apply several coats of black mascara to extend the lashes. Add strip lashes to amp up and enhance the length of your natural lashes

I love the look of a strong red lip, especially when the eyes are lightly dressed. To get this look, I used the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in “Beso”. It’s a long-wearing lipstick that glides on like a lip gloss and dries like a matte lipstick.
