Hey everyone…Sarah and Scott got hitched!! Yes, that’s right folks, and I’m here to give you a sneak peek at their Kelowna nuptials. Sarah and Scott (aka: S-squared) are quite literally the funniest, most down-to-earth couples I know, and I am so fortunate to have been asked to take part in their special day. Now, for those of you who don’t know Sarah and Scott, they are quite a whoot! I don’t think I’ve ever seen them not laugh or smile when they are together. Sarah, an Ontario native, and Scott, a BC boy, met at work. They shared a long-distance relationship for roughly 5 years before they decide to get married. Scott proposed to Sarah in Whistler, BC and the two began planning for their destination wedding in the Okanagan!
My “S-squared” experience started when I met them back in October 2011. I invited them to attend the Bling Bridal Showcase in Vancouver at the Rosewood Georgia Hotel, where I was an exhibitor. The moment we met, it felt like we had known each other for years; it was an instant connection. I knew at that moment that this was going to be a special relationship. I was honored when Sarah selected me to travel to Kelowna and be on-hand to beautify her and her bridesmaids.
I arrived in Kelowna on Thursday at 12:30pm and hopped in a cab… (enter Sam, of Apple Cabs). Boy, oh-boy, can Sam talk! I’m usually the one who strikes up conversations with complete strangers and ask them questions like “what’s your favorite color?” and “so, what’s your story?”, but nope… Sam really did all the talking! His energy and enthusiasm was refreshing and I knew he really loved his job and cared about his clients – thanks for the great ride, Sam!
I got settled into my hotel room at the Manteo Resort. Sarah and Scott greeted me with a huge smile and hug and soon after they were off running last minute errands before the “welcome party” that evening. With time to spare, I decided to get a well deserved mani and pedi. Based on the hotel’s recommendation, I headed over to the Eveline Charles Salon and Spa, located directly across from the Hotel. I was greeted by a bubbly esthetician named Debora, who proceeded to administer the best manicure and pedicure I’ve had in a VERY long time! She presented me with a selection of miniature nail polishes to choose from. I went with a navy blue polish called “Passport”, which was fitting for “S-Squared” travel themed wedding. The best part is that I got to keep the miniature bottle of polish to take home with me for touch ups – how cool is that?! By the end of my service, Debora and I had a blast! (…I think we’re new bff’s, just saying!) We shared fun stories, beauty secrets and a love for jewelry; you should have seen the cool ring she was waring, not to mention her uber-cool tattoos! THANKS DEBS! Hope to see you again soon;) xo
Next up was the welcome/rehearsal dinner at the El Dorado Hotel. Sarah rocked a super cute, mod-inspired, a-line, dress from TopShop. To compliment her dress, I create a retro 60’s look with her hair and makeup; full hair and navy blue cat eyes – so hottt! The evening was wonderful, as were her friends and family; I truly felt like I was a part of the family. In fact, a few guests thought that Sarah and I were actually sisters… (cue “Sisters” by Berlin Irving from the movie “White Christmas”.) The wine was flowing, the view was spectacular and Uncle Berry was snapping pics like a pro!;) The highlight of the evening was listening to speeches about the lovely couple and watching Sarah and Scott dance while Evan Kennedy serenaded them. Seriously, Scott…you are so sweet and full of surprises!
Let the primping begin! It’s now Friday morning at 7am and the ladies are trickling in, one-by-one, to get primped for the big day. The weather is spectacular and everyone looks amazing, especially Sarah, adorned with Elsa Corsi Jewellery. We went with a vintage 1930’s hair and makeup style, inspired by Hollywood legend, Lucille Ball (Sarah’s favorite!) We were having so much fun getting ready, I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much in my life – it really felt like we were in a scene from “I Love Lucy“! Mimosa’s were flowing, as were the tears of happiness and joy when Sarah and Scott saw each other for the first time before the ceremony. Every moment was captured by Jessica Balfour Photography and Tim Feeny of Limelight Studios. We made our way to Cedar Creek Winery; an incredible venue to witness Sarah and Scott profess their vows of love and devotion to one another.
The evening quickly approached and we arrived at Summerhill Pyramid Winery for the reception; yet another incredible venue to celebrate a wedding! The space was cozy and quaint and the view was to die for! We took a moment to transform Sarah into her evening look, which consisted of a new hairstyle and makeup change (we went with a romantic up style and pewter smokey eyes). As much as I would have loved to stay for the reception and enjoy the festivities, this gal had a plan to catch back to Vancouver to prep for another wedding!
Sarah and Scott, thank you for allowing me to be a part of your special day. I truly enjoyed every moment with you and I look forward to seeing you again in the near future! After all, I did ask Uncle Berry if he would adopt me as his niece, and he say yes! So I guess this means I’m officially part of the family!;)
Congratulations on your new lives together!
