Karameller Vancouver brings “Take me to the candy shop” to a whole new level!  Located in the heart of Vancouver’s Yaletown neighborhood, this Swedish born sweet spot is a must-try for adults and kids alike.  I mean seriously, the candy is imported from Scandinavia and made from high-quality ingredients, free of GMOs, trans fats, and high-fructose corn syrup.  I mean, it’s practically a health food store, right?!  The space is small but it’s packed with all kinds of yummy treats that will tempt your tastebuds and satisfy a sweet tooth!

Outfit Details:

Strolling through Yaletown requires a few “casual-chic” wardrobe essentials.  First off, you’ll want to invest in a pair of distressed jeans like these Gap Washwell mid-rise destructed Girlfriend Jeans.  Mine are from last season and I purchased them a few sizes larger than I normally wear because I like the option of wearing them slung lower on my hips and/or belted and relaxed fitting through the legs.  They’re perfectly distressed and truly feel extremely comfy.  Next is my “Dolce Mama” NadittudeTM Label t-shirt.  Dolce Mama is Italian for “Sweet Mama”.  Initially, I designed this tee for our “mom-to-be” clients.  But then I fell in love with it for myself and decided to market it for EVERY sweet little woman out there; no matter your age or maternal stage!  My t-shirts are 100% cotton, relaxed fit, and custom designed and printed right here in Vancouver!  They are versatile and look great styled with a full skirt and with jeans or leggings.  They retail on our online store for only $45.

To accessorize, I layered this cute mint-green cardigan sweater over top for a hit of texture, along with this fabulous leopard print belt for contrast and a little personality.  And what’s an outfit without a little bling?  I added this statement necklace to the mix and completed the look these fabulous silver sandals with spike details for a little hit a NadittudeTM!

Nadia’s 40th at L’Abattoir in Gastown…

Nadia’s 40th at L’Abattoir in Gastown…

Photographed by: Union Photographers

It was a night of crazy shenanigans and laughs, as my closest friends and family gathered together at L’Abattoir in Gastown, to celebrate my 40th birthday.  I wanted to create a casual, yet elegant experience for all of my 45 guests and was thrilled with my decision to host my event in the private dining room at L’Abattoir.  The space is completely separate from the actual restaurant itself, and the Private Dining Manager, Nathan Collins, was a delight to work with and handled everything with great care.  The staff, service and attention to detail that went into making my soiree run smoothly exceeded my expectations.  I worked directly with Sales and Events Manager, Kimberly Fok, to select the most tasteful and beautifully presented family style menu.  I chose Dalana of The Cake and The Giraffe to create my adorable cakes, and enlisted the help of Flower Factory to design my flowers that decorated the already gorgeous space.  The inspiration behind my event began with a gorgeous fashion illustration designed by, Michelle Yu.  That illustration turned out to be my invitation, which was designed by Lele Chan, and once my publicist and dear friend, Chella Levesque, sent out the e-vites, the rest was history!

Here’s a little peek at the action, captured perfectly and candidly by my dear friends of Union Photography…

I had a hard time deciding on one cake, so I went with ten adorable miniature ones!  These semi-naked drippy cakes, adorned with mini donuts and flowers, were so fun!  Dalana of The Cake and The Giraffe made a variety of flavors, including Carrot Cake, Vanilla Strawberry with Coconut, and Double Chocolate!  Placed as center pieces down the long table, they were the perfect size to share among a group of 4 guests.

And can we talk about my custom “Holy Chic Nad’s Forty” cake topper for a minute!? (…I DIE!!).  I ordered it from my friend, Jenny DeJong, co-founder of Shop Tineke.    Everything is locally designed and you can choose from a variety of pre-made (or custom) styles on there Etsy page.  You can also check them out on Instagram @Shop Tineke !

As part of the entertainment for the evening, I hired my friend and incredibly talented illustrator, Michelle Yu, of When I’m an Old Man to live-sketch my guest.  Lele Chan created custom 8×10 sketching sheets which read, “Holy Chic, Nad’s 40” along the top, with my party hashtag #holychicnads40 as a footer.  These were great keepsakes and definitely a huge hit!  I can’t wait to frame mine and hang it in my home office!

Signature “Nadittude” drinks were served to each guest as they arrived.  The head bartender at L’Abattoir mixed these refreshingly sweet drinks with Havana 3 year old rum, Aperol, lemon and mint.  They were topped with cava and served in a flute, with a lemon string.  So delicious!

To set the tone for the evening, my stylist (and official music curator) Roberto and I created a public play list on Google Play called “NADITUNES”.  It contains roughly 16 hours of my favorite music hits from the 70’s all the way to now, ie. George Micheal, Janet Jackson, Salt N’ Pepa, Sofi Tukker, Drake, DMX and more!   Let’s just say, it’ll make you want to get up and dance!  Check it out HERE!

A milestone event would not have been complete without a surprise.  And boy was I surprised to see that my big sister, Milena, who flew in from Edmonton especially for me!  My entire family was in on the secret, and I had absolutely no clue she was going to be there.  I was seriously beyond thrilled that she was able to make it! xo

It was also a huge honor to have my Aunt and Uncle here from Italy to celebrate with us.  This was there first time to ever travel to Canada and it’s still hard to believe they were really here!!  They definitely put the “Crazy” in the term Crazy Calabrese; despite the language barrier.  Good thing we Italians like to talk with our hands – Haha!  Grazie, Zii – xoxo

THANK YOU everyone for making this’ol lioness feel so loved!  You are my tribe and my life-long companions.  I value and appreciate each and every one of you unconditionally and with an open heart!  This milestone event wouldn’t have been the same without you!  Big love and adoration to those of you who were unable to make it out; you were deeply and regrettably missed!  The good news is that I plan on celebrating my 40th every month, for the rest of the year, so we have plenty of opportunities to make more memories together.  I say, there’s always an excuse to celebrate life, right?

Cheer! xoxo

This is Forty!

This is Forty!

Floral Dress and Necklace: Value Village | Backless Ankle Booties: The Latest Scoop | Public Art Mural: Kristofir Dean

Well kids, it’s official — I’m 40!  The big 4-0… WOW! It’s hard to believe it, let alone say it.  But I don’t feel a day older than 39 – haha!  It’s amazing how time passes, and I have to say that the past ten years of my life have been incredible.  My 30’s were a decade of building dreams and achieving big goals; in business, relationships and/or personal development.  I’ve learned so much, and luckily have experienced more highs than lows.  Over the past 10 years, I’ve become more accepting of myself and my accomplishments and less critical.  I continue to support the people around me though encouragement and by strengthening their confidence.  And instead of getting caught up in negativity, I chose to be optimistic, positive, and seized an opportunity when it was presented to me.

The interesting thing is that many people that I know are (and were) terrified of turning 40.  Yes, it’s a huge milestone, and one that should be celebrated!  “Age ain’t nothing but a number”, and I look forward to what the next decade of my life will teach me.  I will strive to do my best in all facets of my life and hope to exude wisdom, light and love and acceptance toward the things I can and can not control.  I will strive to always look for the rainbow on a cloudy day.  To sparkle and bring the magic, and to celebrate the beautiful and colorful people that I am so fortunate to have in my life!

Thanks to my photographer, Daniella Guzzo‘s incredible eye for location scouting, this gorgeous rainbow backdrop designed by artist, Kristofir Dean, was a MAJOR hit!  It couldn’t be more fitting for the way I feel about my life, beauty, fashion, family and friends at the moment — beautiful, colorful, beaming, inspiring and empowering!

Outfit Details:

I’m yearning for Spring-time to permanently make an appearance, so that I can finally start wearing my florals and light weight outfits.  I scooped this pretty flowy, chiffon and lace, floral print, two-tiered dress up at Value Village.  I love it so much because I can style it so many different ways and because it’s very much on trend this season.  During the Fall season, I paired it with my black leather platform angle boots, opaque leggings, a leather jacket and floppy hat.  In the summer, I plan to wear it with flat tan sandals or espadrills and a sheer long cardi-sweater.  I suggest wearing a belt to cinch-in and define the waist.

Currently, I’m wearing it with these adorable suede backless angle booties (i die!).  I was perusing The Latest Scoop in Gastown a few weeks back and they caught my eye.  I slipped them on and imagined wearing them with my distress jeans, shorts and dresses over the Sprin/Summer season.  You can’t go wrong with a great tan slide, and these in particular are extremely comfy and versatile!

It’s true what they say that life, “is not always rainbows and butterflies”.  Sometimes we get rocked by things that are out of our control, which can dim our spirits and make us lose sight of the light ahead.  When that happens, I hope we can all find the rainbow, and a little perspective, in our cloudy sky.  At the very least, let’s remember to smile, because the wrinkles will show less – haha!

Happy Weekend, everyone!

Plaid Love, baby!

Plaid Love, baby!

Plaid Shirt: Value Village | Distressed Jeans: JBrand at Winners | Platform Oxford Shoes: The Wishbone Collection at Brown’s Shoes | Hashtag Necklece: Jeweliette Jewellery

I’m a sucker for love.  I mean seriously, I can fall hard for a pair of shoes, a pretty piece of wall paper, and even a good piece of cheesecake!  And once I fall in love with something/someone, it’s like… FOREVER!

The cycle of love is funny.  At first it catches you off guard (from the corner of your eye), and when you least expect it, it reveals itself.  You then turn and gaze in it’s direction with intrigue and infatuation and you get lost in a daze.  You can’t stop thinking about it and become obsessed; you even loose sleep over it!  You try to act coy, even try ignore the feelings and walk away, but then you realize that you’re falling in love and can’t be without!  Your palms sweat, your mouth dries-up and your heart bursts with overwhelming emotion.  You take the leap of faith anyway, make the commitment and go for it.  And then when it’s yours, you jump for joy and your heart is filled with glee!

And that my friends, is exactly how I felt when I met my hubby…and pretty much how I feel every time I walk into a shoe store, a cosmetic department and a bakery!  Yep…it’s true love indeed!

Outfit Details:

This West-Coast girl is mad for plaid!   And lucky for us it was, and still is, a big trend in fashion and interiors design this FW/2017.  This pattern has a super casual yet elegant and classic feel to it, and it happens set the tone for my Valentine’s Day post this week.  I adore this peplum shirt-dress I found at Value Village, because of it’s shape, structure and personality.  This cut defines the waist and flairs away from the body, camouflaging the hips and tummy area.

I like that it can be styled with a great pair of cropped dress pant and heels. leggings and ankle boots or as I’ve styled here with my distressed JBrand jeans (Winners) and platform oxford shoes by The Wishbone at Brown’s Shoes.  To dress up this look, you could add a chunky statement neckless and a cool pump.  I like wearing my rose gold leather jacket that I got from Zara (see last week’s “Heavy Metal” post) to add an element of shine.

Style Matters:

Live-in hair is so sexy and very easy to achieve.  And to be honest, the days of perfectly curled hair are gone!  Street style is more about creating texture, a slight bend and even a kink in the hair. To get this look I KMS “Free Shape – 2-in-1 Styling Spray” for heat activated dry styling.  Staring at the mid-length of the hair, I wrapped random 1-inch bundles of hair (roughly 8 section in total) around a curling wand, leaving the ends out.  I sprayed KMS “Hair Play – Makeover Spray” a dry shampoo, to cool the curls and for added texture, then finished by spraying KMS “Hair Play – Dry Wax” to create this lived-in diminutional texture.

Love has got me jumping for joy!  And so does the launch of our our online store!! Today is the official launch day (…just in time for Valentine’s Day!) so please pop over to our home page and click on SHOP to peruse our NadittudeTM Label.  The label was designed with love by me for you, and I hope you love it right back!

Happy Weekend, Everyone!

Rosegold Leather Jacket: Zara | “All is Calm” Shirt: Sugar Plum Sisters | Adidas Original Stan Smith Sneakers: Foot Locker | Jeans: Winners | Accessories: Jeweliette Jewellery | Clutch Purse: Croatia | Chrome Manicure: Joyride Vancouver

Kung Hei Fat Choi, Everyone!  According to the Chinese Lunar Calander, 2017 is the year of the Rooster.  And in Chinese astrology, each zodiac is not only associated with an animal sign, but also with an element, ie: Gold (Metal), Wood, Water, Fire and Earth.  This year happens to be a Fire-Rooster year, which has got me singing, “This girl is on fire!”.  But as much as I looove me a good Alicia Keys sing-along, and the warm embers of a burning flame, I’m quite easily distracted by pretty and shiny metalic things; particulary of the Rosegold variety…

Nadia Albano, Daniella Guzzo Photography, Zara, Jeweliette Jewellery, Sugar Plum Sisters, Adidas, Rosegold, Joyride Vancouver

I’m chanelling my inner Run DMC styles of the eighties (<– check out this article) and layering on a few of my favorite chains.  I started by converting my gold plated “pulse” necklace into a trendy chocker, which looks fabulous with my custom “NadittudeTM” hashtag necklace; both from Jeweliette Jewellery.  I was going for a graduated effect so I incorporated this long and chunkie chain necklace, which adds the perfect amount of texture and length.  Talk about heavy metal!

Outfit Details:

I worked my outfit around this incredibly amazing rosegold leather jacket that I picked up at Zara.  I mean, seriously people!  Is this not a great statement piece or what?!  AND, it’s on sale.  I’m obsessed with it.  Not only because it happens to match my new white and rosegold Adidas kicks, but it’s also a brighter alternative to the classic black.  It’s a great piece to carry into the Spring season.

This is a typical outfit I’d wear on my days off and for runner errands.  Comfort is key, as is looking stylish and cute.

Speaking of cute, what do you think of my “All is Calm” sleep shirt?  Yes, that’s right, it’s a sleep shirt and I’m wearing it as a regular t-shirt; don’t judge! (lol).  And let me tell you, it feels just as good under the covers as it does out of them!  My friends Laurel and Pam, also known as the Sugar Plum Sisters designed this sleep shirt for the holiday season, but I think they work great as styled here, of kicking around the house on the weekends; yoga class or even as a swim suit cover for an up=coming sunny vacay!  They’re made from 95% Bamboo and 5% Spandex, and retail for $60 online.

Makeup Tutorial – Face Contouring and Cat-Eye!

Makeup Tutorial – Face Contouring and Cat-Eye!

Photographed by: Union Photographers

If you asked me to pick one makeup look that would stand the test of time and work with just about every fashion trend known to man,  I’d choose the Cat-Eye.  It’s a makeup style that accentuates the eyes, works for any occasion and age, and the thickness of the liner can be customized to suit your mood.  I’d add that a little face contouring is a great way to enhance this look, when done in a tasteful and subtle way.  Let’s get started on this week’s tutorial…

201600809_trutorial-0001

Step 1: I started by applying Smashbox Photo Finish Priming Oil onto clean moisturized skin to provide a radiant, luminous glow.  It helps to reduce the look of dry fine lines and creates a perfect canvas for applying foundation.

201600809_trutorial-0046

Step 2: Using my Foundation Brush, I evened out my complexion with Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation in #118.  I find that this foundation works best with my skin and provides an even, seamless finish.

201600809_trutorial-0048

201600809_trutorial-0050

Step 3:  To create my black cat-eye, I tested out the Estee Lauder Super Noir Shadow and Liner.  I love creating a super dark smoky eye with this product it glides on easily and blends out nicely with my finger.  Today, I saturated my angled liner brush with the tip of the pencil, then drew a line onto my eyelid.  I went a little thicker with the liner and extended the outer corners for added definition.

201600809_trutorial-0051

201600809_trutorial-0054

Step 4:  I curled my lashes and coated them with Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.

201600809_trutorial-0056

Step 5:  I rimmed my waterline with NYX Wonder Pencil to brighten and open up the eyes.  I’m sure I’ve mentioned in the past how much I love this product and that it’s a must-have in my makeup bag, right?  Still feel the same way!

201600809_trutorial-0057

201600809_trutorial-0059

Step 6: One of my biggest pet peeves is when women over contour their faces.  To the point where you can see racing stripes.  Now don’t get me know wrong, I like contouring my face to enhance my features, but let’s not overly exaggerate it people – Haha!  Burberry Beauty launced these super handy Face Contour and and Highlighter Pens.

201600809_trutorial-0062

Start by drawing a diagonal-forward line below the cheek-bone, in the hallows of the face, using the Burberry Face Contour (Medium No.1).

201600809_trutorial-0065

Use your finger or a foundation brush to gently blend out the line using quick diagonal-back motions.

201600809_trutorial-0067

Next, draw a diagonal-forward line onto the peek point of the cheek bone, using Burberry Fresh Glow Highlighting Luminous Pen.  Blend out and into the contour using your finger to create a soft shimmer finish.

201600809_trutorial-0068

201600809_trutorial-0071

Step 7: Set the contour pen using bronzer or a translucent powder.  This will prevent the product from transferring or slipping off the skin.

201600809_trutorial-0073

Step 8: As an alternative to the deep berry and red shades we’ve been wearing all winter, why not try a bright pop of orange.  The Burberry Lip Velvet in Coral Orange (No. 411) is one of my favorite lip colors.  This formula offers a long lasting, matte finish that goes on smooth and lasts all day without drying the lips.

201600809_trutorial-0079

As I said earlier, this makeup look is appropriate for any occasion, outfit and age.  It’s clean and fresh, works for day or evening and it’s so easy to accomplish.  What more can you ask for in a makeup look!  Happy Weekend, everyone!

Touch the Sky…

Vintage Blouse and Black Coat: Value Village || Trousers and Shoes: Winners || Vintage Broach: Whiskey and Cake

Happy 2017, Everyone!  Whoooowee…we made it through the first week of the new year!  And I’m super excited to kick this year off on a positive note.  I plan to keep up the momentum that the past 10 years has passed along to me (thank you!) and plan is to continue to push myself, work hard, surround myself with greatness, and most importantly; LET GO AND LET GOD!  The sky’s the limit, baby, and I’mma touch it!

Nadia Albano, touch the sky, pleated pants, vintage blouse,, black and blue, Daniella Guzzo Photography

Outfit Details:

I started this week’s outfit with this gorgeous blue and silver, paisley print lame and chiffon blouse.  It’s one of my prized vintage possessions from Value Village.  It’s a very unique piece, which I’ve styled in the past with distressed jeans, skirts and faux leather pants.  This time I’m paring it with these super drapey, high waisted pleated trousers.  They’re by BCBG, from Winners, and they’re extremely versatile.

Unfortunately, pleats have a bad reputation, so I pulled together this outfit to demonstrate how you can dress things up during the cold season with a great pair of pleated pants.  Pleats can be very challenging to wear, as they can accentuate the tummy area.  The trick is in choosing a high-waisted style that will show off your waist, if  you have an hourglass and pear-shaped figure.  I love the look of a cropped hem, if you’re petite, as the shorter hem shows off a the ankles and a great shoe (either a heel or an platform oxford!).  Finally, to add curves to a lean frame, try a wide leg style or a drop crotch cut.  It’s important to note that a wide pleat or box pleat will create less volume, while a smaller or tighter pleat will add more volume.

This beautiful Sherman brooch, from Whiskey and Cake in Vancouver, was a great addition to my vintage collection.  Alone or clustered, broaches are a great way of accessorizing and personalizing a wool coat, denim jacket, toque or sweater.  Click on these links to view how I’ve accessories broaches in previous posts for some inspiration… Brooches and Dame En Blank

Have a great weekend, everyone.  I’m off to Toronto on business with KMS Hair and my schedule is jam packed!  I am so excited to come back next week with lots of new hair, makeup and fashion updates for Spring 2017.  Stay tuned!  In the mean time, my team will be in the studio to accommodate you, should you have any booking inquiries.

I leave you with a few inspirational words from Yeezus himself (Kanye West).  These lyrics never get old…hahaha!

“I gotta testify, come up in the spot looking extra fly
For the day I die, I’mma touch the sky”

“Now let’s take ’em high-igh-igh-igh-igh-igh la la la la la la la
(Top of the world, baby. T-Top of the world)”

Day-to-Evening NYE Makeup Tutorial…

Day-to-Evening NYE Makeup Tutorial…

Photographed by: Union Photographers

Well friends, 2017 is two day away and to celebrate, I created this super simple and easy makeup tutorial that will take your New Year’s Eve day look into a sexy and sophisticated evening look with a simple change of the lipstick.  This is one of my go-to signature looks and it really goes a long way and makes quite an impact.

To achieve this look, I’m using an assortment of products from Stila Cosmetics, Paul & Joe Beaute and NYX Cosmetics.  I’m also showcaseing how to use our new NadittudeTM makeup brushes, which are currently available in-studio and coming soon to our online store.

Step 1: Even out complexion with foundation.

Start by evening out the complexion with foundation.  I’m trying the Stila Aqua Glow Foundation.  What I like about this formula is that it’s light weight and provides buildable coverage.  Great for a sheer and natural look, and layers beautifully for a full coverage finish.

Step 2: Apply corrective concealer

Stila created this really great Corrective and Perfect All-in-One Color Correcting Pallette  for those looking to conceal and neutralizes unwanted under-eye circles, redness and uneven skin.  It includes five corrective concealer and two tinted setting powders which brighten the skin.

Cream Correctors

Peach – neutralizes dark under-eye circles on fair/medium skin tones
Pink – brightens eye area and masks fatigue
Yellow – neutralizes hyperpigmentation and dark spots
Green – counteracts redness (i.e. from rosacea, acne, broken capillaries, and sunburn)
Orange – counteracts dark under-eye circles on darker skin tones; also neutralizes veins

Step 3: Apply Eye Shadow

This multi-functional Stila Perfect Me, Perfect Hue Eye and Cheek Palette in Light/Medium is a great neutral eye shadow palette.  It contains five eye shadow colors, which are beautifully pigmented, as well as two matte blushes.  These are staple colors that work for all eye colors and skin tones; an ideal palette for traveling, especially during the holidays!

I started by applying “Dazzling” (the light-vanilla shade) as a wash onto the entire eye lid, using my NadittudeTM Chisle Fluf Brush ($12)

Next, I swept “Spontaneous” (the plum-brown shadow color) into the crease using my NadittudeTM Crease and Contour Brush ($12) to softly blend in the color.  I used the same shadow color with an angled liner brush, to rim the lower lash line, then finished by curling my lashes and coating them with Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.

Step 4: Brighten the eyes.

This NYX Wonder Pencil in “light” is my favorite, and a makeup bag staple!  It’s a 3-in-1 pencil that can be used to conceal flaws and blemishes, line the lips to prevent bleeding, and works wonders on brightening the eyes along the waterline.  I’ll often wear this on it’s own with mascara and I instantly look fresh and awake.

Step 5: Finish with Concealer

To to clean up and highlight under the eyes, I’m using the Stila Aqua Glow Serum Concealer.  You don’t need too much if  you use the corrective concealer palette underneath (as seen above).  Again, this formula is super light-weight, natural looking and very buildable.  For best results use a concealer brush like our NadittudeTM Concealer Brush ($12).

For a simple and fresh day look, try a sheer lipstick or a lip stain like this limited edition color by Paul & Joe Beaute; it’s seriously the perfect lip stain! OR… you can kick it up a notch with a killer, full coverage, long-wearing lipstick like this Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in “Chianti”. – Whooo-weee!!!

This look is understated yet super glamourous and timeless.   Instead of creating a typical smoky eye for an evening look this NYE, why not try a deep, bold lip to amplify your look instead?   All it takes is an even complexion, groomed brows and a quick change up of the lip and you’re ready to celebrate!

Happy New Year, Everyone! xo

Home for the Holidays…

Dress: Croatia | Fur Stole: Value Village | Hat: H&M | Boots: Winners | Accessories: Elsa Corsi and Jeweliette Jewellery | Lipstick: Burberry Kisses “Ox Blood”

Well, we’re a few days away from Christmas!!  The house is ready, the gifts (very small and few) are wrapped and we are ready to celebrate the season with our nearest and dearest.  It feels a little unusual for my hubby and I to be home for the holidays because going away during this time has become our new Christmas tradition.  My family is dispersed all over the country, both of my husbands parents have passed on and we don’t have kids; so going away makes sense for us!  Over the past five years we’ve been fortunate enough to have traveled to places like Paris, Hawaii, Mexico and New York.  We both work a lot and these one-week getaways during the festive season are a great way of us to be together and decompress.  This year we’ve decided to stick around and spend quality time together with family and friends, and I’m really looking forward to it!

Outfit Details:

This week, in the Westender Newspaper, I contributed to a article called, “Avoid the Obvious with your Holiday Style”, written by Aileen Lalor.  I presented some not-so-typlical,  fashion-forward alternatives of dressing for the holidays regardless of your shape and size.  This week’s style post is a great example of that…

When we were in Croatia this past Fall, I found that the shopping in Split was really great.  I got this super versatile hi/low maxi dress from a cute little boutique called Frida.  The color is exquisite and the micro-pleating creates a lovely texture to an otherwise very sheer and delicate fabric.  I also love that it has a built-in draw string which can be cinched in tightly to define waistline, or tied up loosely to hug the hips for more of a relaxed and flowy fit.

To create a warm and festive feel, I layered my vintage fur stole over my dress for a little texture.  I thrifted this piece, which is in mint condition, at Value Village several years ago and I seriously layer it over everything; leather jacket, denim jacket, blazers etc.  I especially love the front little pocket detail for keeping my hands warm!

Inspired by the 1970’s style sensibility (…which I’ve been really into lately), I added this season’s must-have accessories, my large brimmed hat!  To anchor the look, I opted for a black rugged platform leather ankle boot (designer), which I purchased from Winners.  These have been on repeat over the past few months because they are A) extremely versatile, B) make me look taller and C) they’re comfortable and easy to walk in; which is always a bonus!

Tip:

Transform this day look into an sophisticated evening look, say for a formal wedding, by simply removing the hat and swapping out the ankle boots with a sexy strappy sandal.

For a touch of holiday sparkle, I layered my favorite “NadittudeTM” Hashtag and Angel Wings necklaces, from Jeweliette Jewellery, with my crystal tassel pendent necklace made by Vancouver Jewellery Designer, Elsa Corsi.

I give thanks everything and everyone in my life and take nothing for granted!  It’s very important for me to support my “tribe” and my community in the best way that I can and in all facets of my life.  Over the past few months, my team and I have been working away to help support causes that are near to our hearts.  This year, with your kindness and generosity, along with the help from Barre Fitness and Opus Hotel, we raised $200 for the Dr. Peter’s Aids Foundation at our Opus Bar Pop-Up Event.  We volunteer our skills to the DTES Woman’s Portrait Project, and together with our friends at Murale and Escents Aromatherapy, we donated 40 care packages to the women of the Downtown Eastside Women’s Center; which they very much appreciated!   Lastly, partial proceeds of our new NadittudeTM label sales went to the Greater Vancouver Food Bank and we couldn’t be happier to donate!  Our hearts a full and our gratitude to everyone who helped make these donations possible – Thank you!

Merry Christmas!  Happy holidays and many wonderful wishes for a uplifting, stylish and positive 2017!

Maximum Dressing for the Holidays…

Maximum Dressing for the Holidays…

Dress: Value Village || Shoes: Winners || Jewellery: Elsa Corsi and Jeweliette Jewellery || Clutch: Croatia

Ok, everyone…I’m having a muumuu moment!  Yes, that’s right, I’m wearing the 1970’s inspired Muumuu trend (as seen on the runways or Roberto Cavalli, Chloe and Valentino) for the Holiday season!  I mean why wouldn’t I?  I can eat all I want without worrying about depriving myself, AND I’ll look stylish as I go up for seconds to the buffet table – haha!  Seriously though, here’s a little inspiration for those of you who want to give this silhouette a try for the Holidays!

Wardrobe Details:

The Muumuu, which originated in Hawaii, is a loose fitting dress which hangs from the shoulders.  It’s don’t have a lot of shape to it and floats away from the  body, providing a comfortable and effortless look.  I found this exquisite dress at my favourite thrift store, Value Village, where I like to shop for one-of-a-kind pieces to add to my wardrobe.  I was immediately drawn to the multitude of colours in the print.  To me, it kind of looks like a cross section of a gemstone!  When you take a closer look at the details, it has little keyhole cutouts along the neckline, shoulders and around the two large (and deep) side pockets.  I like that the short sleeves shows off a little skin and exposes the slimmest part of the body; while the maxi length offers a comfortable yet formal look.  PLUS, it doubles as a great summer dress styled with flats!

I went with these silver almond-toe heels, for a little sheen, and added this very cool blush-pink geometric shaped clutch.  I purchased this in Croatia and it picks up on the pink hue in the dress perfectly.

Jewellery:

To elevate the look, I layered my Elsa Corsi body chane over my dress, along with my ear climber.  These a staple accessories in my wardrobe as they definitely add an element of sparkle and personality to this look.

Whether you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind dress, or a creative way of dressing for the holidays, I recommend hitting your local thrift store to find unique pieces that can be integrated into your regular wardrobe.  It’s all about maximum dressing on a minimum budget! – xo
