I’m taking a break this week and getting behind the camera to put my amateur photography skills to the test. Don’t panic, I will never add “Professional Photographer” to the end of my name; there are already so many amazingly talented photographers in this City that I admire and respect so much. I prefer getting people “camera ready” and leaving the rest to the pros! Plus, my left eye is still soar from shooting this style series! Really though, I wanted to formally introduce you to the beautiful and talented woman, artist, painter and professional photographer, who manages to make me look and feel so fabulous every week on my blog. Meet Daniella Guzzo…
Daniella Guzzo Fine Art Coasters are so beautiful. Made from 100% natural Italian Botticino marble, these coasters can be custom desiged with your logo or personal image. ($50 for set of 4).
Here’s a little more about Daniella:
What are two things we don’t know about you?
In grade three, I was one of 2 children in Canada who recieved a special art award for a painting a created. And at 16, I made my first camera out of a cereal box. I experimented with pin-hole photography for a couple years and developed my own photos.
Where is the most exotic place you’ve traveled to photograph a wedding?
Jamaica! It was so beautiful.
How long have you been doing photography?
I originally started when I was 16 years old with my homemade film camera. At 23, I enrolled in the Photography Program at Langara and have now been working professionally, running my own business, for the past 5 years.
What are some of your extra curricular activities you’re involved in?
For the last 3 years I have been a part of Help Portrait Vancouver. We are a group of photographers that give back to the community, on the Downtown East Side, through portraits. People at the Union Gosple Mission (and various other locations) get their photos taken and printed on the spot for them to keep. I also dance and love to spend time outdoors and in remote places, far from the city, where I can see every star in the sky.
Who are your style icons?
What are your can’t live without makeup products?
Would you say your style is casual, classic chic, charming or couture?
I would say I’m a mix of casual and chic. I love to dress up. When I have a chance to wear dresses and sky-high heels, I jump on the opportunity! I own a lot of black and am attracted to cool, edgy pieces and accessories. When I’m shooting on location, or getting creative in my studio, I need to stay somewhat comfortable.
What inspires you?
I get inspiration from listening to music, playing my guitar, spending time outdoors and being around passionate loving happy people. Travelling and pushing myself outside of my comfort zone is also something that brings me a ton of ideas. It changes my thought process in life and in my art, in a really positive way.
Describe yourself in two words.
Wildly Imaginative. When I get an idea in my head, nothing will stop me from achieving or completing it. When I get swept away and let my imagination run wild, great things happen! I remember spending 16 hours straight on a painting and just couldn’t stop. Before I knew it, I was shaking from not eating and it was 5am. It was wild!
