Weh gumpa…Happy Canada Day, eh?! Yeah…I totally went there with the stereotypes, but I couldn’t help it!! Let’s face it, I’m an extremely proud first generation Italian-Canadian and I feel like I have the best of both worlds running through my veins. I will be forever grateful to my dad for making the best decision of his life and immigrating to the “true north strong and free” back in the 1960’s! We moved to Vancouver from Italy, when I was five years old (via Toronto, where I was born). I grew up in the heart of East Vancouver at Commercial Drive, also known as Little Italy, and have the best memories of growing up there. The neighborhood had many Italians living in it and it was also very multicultural. I had friends and neighbors that were Caucasian, Chinese, Portuguese, Greek, South Asian, First Nations, you name it. It was so diverse and I loved everything about each of their cultures, especially the food and dance! As kids we didn’t even know what multiculturalism meant, we just accepted each other and celebrated our cultural differences, which carried into high school and college. It was great and I wouldn’t change my life experiences, then and now, for anything. These are the experiences that make me who I am today!
My friend and photographer Daniella and I did some location scouting in my old stomping grounds the other day and found a few sweet locations to shoot my new t-shirt line, which I’m so excited to share with you!! My line is called “NadittudeTM – Love Nadia” and I came up with the t-shirt concept back in December, when I designed custom t-shirts as Christmas gifts for my family. After brainstorming some design ideas with my friend and graphic designer, Lele Chan, “Ciao Bella” and Cinda-fricken-rella” were born. I’m featuring the “Ciao Bella” style in this week’s post to entice your style appitite….
Let’s talk details…
My brand NadittudeTM by definition means “style that is graceful and bold”. I love to make a statement and created this t-shirt line for all the gracefully-bold women out there who want to have a little fun with their wardrobe without having to spend a fortune. These locally designed t-shirts are for those women who want to make a statement with a hint of my good old fashion, say-it-like-it-is, Italian charm!
I chose to offer the color white because it’s versatile and looks crisp and clean. I opted for a v-neck, relaxed cut as it’s the most flattering silhouette for most women. The fabric is made from 100% combed and ring-spun cotton and feels soft to the touch. Available in two styles, “Ciao Bella” and “Cinda-fricken-Rella”, with sizes ranging from S – XL.
They retail for only $50 and are available for purchase at Nadia Albano Style Inc. (online shop coming soon…)
I went casual-chic with my look this week and am rockin’ my “Ciao Bella” t-shirt with my favorite boyfriend jeans from the Gap (they’re actually mens jeans and I absolutely live in them!). I coordinated this look with my new sassy leopard print flats from Winners and incorprated a spot of color with my red Alexander Wang bag; a wardrobe staple. I accessorised the look by layering my custom gold hashtag and heart pulse necklaces from Jeweliette Jewellery, and stacked my arms with bracelets from Leah Alexander and Minichello Jewellers. For a cool finish, I’m wearing my super-fly lucite framed mirrored sunnies which I scooped up at Winners.
