Questions: If you had to use only two words to describe yourself, what would they be
Back in 2004, my sister bought me a book called “Wildly Sophisticated – A Bold New Attitude for Career Success” by Nicole Williams. In it she explains that on her last day of high school her teacher circled the classroom and chose adjectives to describe each of his students. When he got to Nicole he said, “Nicole, while this seems a contradiction in terms, you are what I would describe as wildly sophisticated. There are no better words to describe your combination of passion and refinement, engery and contemplation”.
This concept intrigued and inspired me. I struggled for years on the two adjectives to describe who I think I am, and finally, with the help from my friends and colleagues (you know who you are
), “Gracefully Bold” fit my description. I feel these words express my careful composure and courageous enthusiasm perfectly! Big thanks to my sister for sharing this book with me, and of course, Nicole Williams, for encouraging woman to follow their dreams and earn what they’re worth!
When Daniella and I decided to shoot in a Gastown alley for this week’s style series, I wanted to wear something chic and cool, with a hint of the unexpected; kind of like the vibe I get when I’m in this hip part of town! I have to admit, I’m normally not one who likes to expose my tummy, as it’s the one part of my body that I feel most self conscious of. Yet the latest exposed midriff fashion trend really appeals to me. I was having a positive body image day, and this outfit made feel confident and sexy, which gave me the courage to step outside of my shell. I believe that women should A) shop according to their style and silhouette (S.A.S.S ™), B) dress to fit their mood, environment and the occasion and C) invest in Spanxs!;) Now that’s being “Gracefully Bold”!
