March is in full swing and I feel like my future’s so bright that I gotta wear shades! I kicked off the month with the launch of my new makeup tutorial blog series called TruTorialTM. I’m so thrilled with the feedback and reception and look forward to bringing more makeup looks for you all to try. Huge kudos again to Holly, of Union Photographers, for shooting the series exactly as I imagined!
Next up was my birthday weekend. We celebrated by booking a stay-cation in Ladner at Clair’s Bed & Breakfast. Such a quaint little spot, which I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a quick get-out-of-the-City kind of weekend! Clair herself, is a delight to spend time with and her home is so warm and welcoming; as are her delicious breakfasts — incredible! I feel so fortunate and proud to have such kind, beautiful, strong, intelligent, passionate and funny women in my life. In fact, these women are more than friends, they are my soul sisters. Love you girls so much! xo
This week, on the CBC Steven and Chris Show, my “High/Low Beauty Buys” segment aired! I shared some of my favorite products and revealed how you can get the look for less. To watch the full episode click HERE (my segment is at the 13 minute mark…). A huge thank you to Producer extraordinaire, Mana Monsour, for her support, encouragement and guidance with this segment. Chris Hyndman, you are such a wonderful host! Thank you for making me feel so at home. I look forward to my next visit to Toronto!
Coming up next week is TEDTalks 2015: “Truth or Dare”, here in our beautiful City of Vancouver. I’m thrilled to have been invited back to key the hair and makeup for the incredible lineup of speakers. This is truly one of my favorite projects to be a part of, as it is extremely enlightening, empowering and inspirational! I feel so privileged to be among the best of the best in technology, entertainment and design. If possible, I hope you’ll all have the opportunity to live stream and catch some of the speakers.
Comfort and versatility is key for me, when it comes to dressing. When I purchase a garment, I MUST be able to wear it at least 3 ways. I also like working with classics, like this stretch jersey long sleeve dress. It’s super comfy and looks chic no matter what I style it with. In this photo, I decided to layer it with my leather vest for an edgy-cool vibe. I purchased this vest one size larger than I would normally wear as I want to be able to wear it layered over a denim jacket. I opted for a flat menswear inspired oxford shoe to compliment the outfit, as they are ideal for a girl on the go, and because I love the black and white graphic print. For a pop of color, I added this funky cobalt-blue clutch purse. I especially love the chain detail, which give it a cool rock and roll look to it!
To transition this outfit into an evening look, I would simply switch up my oxford shoes with something like these graphic Circus by Sam Edelman D’Orsay Angle Strap Pumps from The Bay. They’ll definitely add personality to the outfit!
