There’s something about sparkle and shimmer that makes me smile.  When used correctly, shimmers and glitters can turn an ordinary day look into an extraordinarily beaming evening look.  It can also add the perfect amount of fab to an otherwise drab outfit.

Weather it’s your makeup or an outfit, all you have to remember is my Style SacramentTM “DLDB” – Dark, Light, Dull, Bright.  Finding balance and playing with different textures are key when applying the perfect makeup.  When you combine these four elements, you will look FLAWLESS darling!

For example:

Dark –  Refers to either the eyes or lips.  The general rule of thumb is that if you’re going for a dark smoky eye, keep the lips neutral, and vice-versa.  In this case let’s make the lips the feature and opt for a deeper shade like red, orange, coral, deep cherry etc.

Light – Seeing as the lips are dark, I would create a simple neautral eye, using taupe browns and cream shades.  I would stick to matte or satin finish eyeshadows, and stratigiclly place shimmer and glitter on eye to highlight – ie. inner corner of the eye, the inner part of the eye lid or along the lash line.

Dull – Dull refers to a matte finish makeup.  In this case you could go with a matte finish foundation, blush or lip.  If everything is one matte texture, it may look too one dimensional and flat!

Bright – Bright refers to either a bright pop of color or spotlight of sparkle.  In this case, we already strategically add a hint of glitter to the eye as an ascent, but if that’s not your thing, you could add a drop of dazzling lipgloss to the middle of the mouth for shine. You could also dust Make Up For Ever Star Powder onto the bridge of the nose and cheek bones, for a soft glowing complexion.  Or perhaps blend shimmering body oil to your arms and legs to make your skin glimmer.
