I believe that a step in the right direction should always be taken in a great pair of shoes! This week, I’m reliving some of my favorite shoe moments, captured by Daniella Guzzo, and revealing my footwear essentials. Come walk with me…
The Ridng Boot
Flat riding boots are an absolute staple in every woman’s Fall and Winter wardrobe. I picked these black leather pull-up riding boots from Winners several years back and they are still in great condition. You can wear them with jeans, leggings, dresses or cargo pant, as shown above.
Animal Print
Believe it or not, I picked these up over 10 years ago from Zara. Animal print is a great way to add personality to your outfit and is considered a neutral. This classic shape keeps them looking timeless and stretches your shopping dollars!.
Ankle Boot
The ankle boot is very versatile. They can be styled with jeans (as seen above), and with slim cut trousers, leggings and even dresses (maxi or mini). Great for Spring season, when you want to expose your legs, or in the Fall/ Winter with opaque tights and a sweater dress, for example.
Classic Black Pump
A must-have staple in ever woman’s wardrobe, a classic black pump will stand the test of time and works all year round. When shopping for a black heels, stick to an almond toe shape rather than rounded or pointy. The almond toe never goes out of style, while the other shape fall in and out of fashion.
The “Shoet” (Shoe-Boot)
The “Shoet” is a combination of a shoe and an ankle boot. They’re super versatile and can work at the office with a pencil skirt and blouse, or for a night out with a sequins mini skirt a simple top and leather vest!
Nude
A nude shoe is another staple. It’s a great neutral and will work with everything in your closet! It lightens the overall look of an outfit and elongates the leg to create a seamless extended silhouette.
Sparkle
When your outfit needs a little pizzazz, just add sparkle! (right, Jeweliette Jewllery?) Great for formal occasions like weddings and grads, and even cuter with cropped denim and a simple peplum top! Keep in mind the shape — again, opt for a versatile shape so you can wear them all year round. I suggest to keep the rest of your outfit toned down, so not to compete with the sparkle!
T-Strap
The t-strap shoes were made popular in the 1920’s when the hem lines went up above the ankles and shoes were being admired by everyone. This shoe design provides added support to the ankle, especially if you’re on your feet all day or cutting the rug on the dance floor! They also offers versatility as you can wear them with slacks or dresses.
Fringe
A huge trend in the 20’s, 60’s and the 80’s; the fringe is back! It’s a little boho and very flirty! We’re seeing fringe details on dresses, tops, jackets and bags, so why not the shoes!
Color Block
These multi-color shoes add a hit of color and can work with many outfits and color combinations. It’s like getting two shoes for the price of one!
Smoking Loafers:
No smoking required when wearing these slip-ons! They’re a great alternative to the ballet flat or sneakers, and look fantastic with slim fit cropped trousers – how 50’s chic!
Kitten Heel
The kitten heel is a God-sent, especially for a girl on the go who wants a little height without the soar feet!
Converse Sneakers:
I live in my All Star Converse sneakers! They’re another wardrobe staple and can be styled 50 different ways! I love how cool and chic they look with a rolled up cuff, shorts and dresses. I especially love wearing them with my mid calf tube dress and denim vest!
Vintage
Vintage shoes are so well made and when you find them in great condition, you want to take extra care of them. Plus, I love treasure hunting and I’d say these beauties are golden!
Floral
Floral print is huge for Spring and Summer. They add the perfect feminine touch to any outfit weather you’re wearing them with a full half calf skirt or with distressed jeans!
Shoe Accessories:
Shoe accessories are a cheap and cheerful way of updating and/or transform your shoes into somethine completely different. If you can’t find them, simply head to a second hand store and look for clip-on earrings; they’ll do the trick!;)
Pop of Color
Talk about making a statment! Bright shoes are so fun and make an outfit come to life. These shoes give a basic black ensemble a vibrant boost of #NadittudeTM!
The “Ugly” Sandal
“Ugly”, “Jesus” or “Man” sandal; call them what you want, but these bulky shoes are back in a big way. I have to agreet, they aren’t the prettiest but they sure are comfy and they look so stylish!
Strappy Flat Sandals
Metallic sandals are perfect for dressing up an outfit without having to wear heels. Rock these strappy gold sandals with a maxi dress for a garden or destination wedding, or wear them with a romper and fedora hat at a summer music festival!
Coco Chanel once said “A girl with good shoes is never ugly!” — I couldn’t agree with her more. Stay beautiful my friends!
