It’s time to fight off those winter blues and indulge your senses with a LUSH experience!  I recently visited their store on W. 4th Ave, in Vancouver, and was taken away by all that they have to offer.  I’m sure you’ve walked by their store, a time or two, and stopped in your tracks from the hypnotizing fragrant scent flowing out of their shop doors.  Everything you smell is organic and natural.  All of their products contain natural ingredients which are purchased in an ethical way and made by hand.  They are fruit and vegetable based and are developed without the use of no animal testing.  Plus, they make some really incredible product for the men in your life, so it’s not all just for us ladies!  I love that they believe in “long candlelit baths, sharing showers, massage, filling the world with perfume and the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again” — sounds AMAZING!!  My niece, Sofia, is a huge fan of LUSH products.  She, being a vegetarian, hopes to one day work for the company and help make a difference in the world through product development and sharing their positive message.

I caught up with the folks at LUSH Cosmetics and here’s what Laura Grafton, LUSH Social Media Specialist, shared with me…

Our founders were working in the traditional cosmetics industry, and decided to start their own business. Using the fresh fruits and vegetables available at the local market, they began creating unique cosmetics by hand, upholding a strict non-animal testing policy from the very beginning.

Charity Pot

In 2007, LUSH invented a beautiful hand and body lotion called Charity Pot.  100% of the purchase price (that means every single penny minus the taxes) goes towards supporting humanitarian, environmental and animal rights causes locally and around the world.  Since its launch, Charity Pot has donated more than $10,000,000 to 850+ grassroots charities in 42 countries – and there are no signs of stopping!

What are some staple LUSH products you think everyone should have?

Ocean Salt –  Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt, dead skin and blockages for a bright, fresh face. We mix in fresh avocado and coconut to hydrate thirsty skin, leaving it balanced and soft. The cleansing effects of lime and vodka are ideal for blocked pores, blackheads or blemishes and leave skin visibly brightened. It’s no wonder Ocean Salt is so enormously popular!

Dream Cream –  One of our proudest product achievements ever, we love this body lotion because it makes people happy. The calming blend of oat milk, lavender and chamomile goes to work soothing sensitive skin. Olive oil and cocoa butter are perfectly suited and incredibly effective for dry or chapped skin, and are especially gentle for even the most sensitive types.

Bath Bombs – All of our bath bombs are huge fan favourites but for me personally I adore the Twilight Bath Bomb.  It fills your bath tub with clouds of lavender and tonka absolute to help combat insomnia and soothe your stressed out body and mind.
