In this week’s Tru-TorialTM session and am showing you how to create this pretty two-toned makeup design, just in time for Easter. This look is definitely playful and fun, and can really make your eyes pop. It’s a lovely way to inject color to your everyday beauty routine and get creative with color; especially if your looking to freshen things up for Spring!
Step 1: Moisturizer, Primer and Foundation
Start by applying primer on clean and lightly moisturized skin. I’m using Make Up For Ever Step 1 Equalizer Hydrating Primer ($43). To even out the complexion, I applied Make Up For Ever HD Foundation #118 ($50), using a foundation brush. Lightly contour the face with Bronzing Powder (MAC Bronzing Powder – $25) as this will give a healthy glow to the complexion.
Step 2: Eye Shadow Base
Step 3: Eye Lid Definition
Blend long wear cream shadow on to the entire eyelid using your finger or a synthetic concealer brush. I selected Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream Shadow #18 ($28). This product is waterproof and provides all-day, smudge-proof and crease-proof wear.
Step 4: Contour Outer Corner of the Eyes
For create definition in the crease, apply a vibrant shade of purple eye shadow, like this Dior “It-Purple”, to the outer corner of the eyes and blend inward only 3/4 of the way.
* To enhance green eyes color, select shade of purple, plum or burgundy to compliment the color.
* For brown or hazel-brown eyes, try shades of blue and green to make your eyes stand out.
* To enhance blue eyes, opt for copper-brown, peachy-orange or golden hues to compliment the eyes.
Step 5: Apply color to lower lash line
Using an angled liner brush, apply a golden-green eye shadow to the lower lash line for contrast. In this photo I’m using MAC “Lucky Green” ($19)
* When selecting a different color for the lower lash like, I suggest looking at a color wheel and selecting a hue from the opposite side of the wheel to create a stronger contrast.
Step 6: Curl the lashes and apply mascara
Step 7: Brighten under eyes with concealer
To brighten under the eyes and camouflage any imperfections, apply concealer using a small concealer brush like Mint Brush #12. Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage #3 ($41), is one of my favorite concealers as it provides great full coverage and stays in place beautifully.
Step 8: Tight line the waterline
Apply forest-green eyeliner to the upper and lower waterline for depth and dimension. Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes #20 ($23) is a fantastic waterproof eyeliner color for this particle look.
Step 9: Apply shimmer to inside corner
For added dimension and for a little sparkle, use a dome brush like Mint Brush #24, to apply Make Up For Ever Star Powder in #944 ($24) to the inner corner of the eye. This iridescent white-mauve shimmer reflects light beautifully and creates a soft 3D effect on the eyelid.
Step 10: Apply Highlight
Starting from below the eye brow, dust on a satin or frosted highlight color (MAC “Jest”) to the brow bone and blend this color downward into the crease.
Step 11: Completed look
To complete this look, lightly fill in the eye brows to frame the face, then dust the apples of the cheeks with Dior Rosy Glow Blush ($46). On the lips, opt for a vibrant pink lipstick, in a cream formula, like MAC “Pink Nouveau” ($19) and lightly dab on Dior Lip Mazimiser in “Sheer Pink” ($37) to the middle of the mouth, for a soft sheen.
* A simple and great way to enhance the eyes turn this into an evening, without adding makeup, simply add a few individual lashes to the bas of the lash line..
Happy Easter, Buona Pasqua, Sretan Uskrs, Everyone — Enjoy your weekend!
