This week’s makeup tutorial was inspired by the oh-so-pretty Jessica Biel, when she styled her eyes in that gorgeous teal-green eye liner. This look brings attention to the eyes, while the skin and lips remain clean and minimal. Extremely playful and easy to achieve, this look is perfect for summer!
Before and After
Step 1: Moisturizer, Primer and Foundation
I was recently introduced to a new skincare line called Mèreadesso. It’s made in Canada, which is always a plus, and designed with simplicity, ease, and effectiveness in mind. The brand philosophy is “One step, one product, for everyone”; You gotta love that!
After applying Mèreadesso All-in-One Moisturizer on my face and neck (which acts as a moisturizer, serum and primer) I evened out my complexion with Make Up For Ever Face and Body Foundation #118 ($46). I lightly contour the face with Bronzing Powder (MAC Bronzing Powder – $30).
Step 2: Apply eye shadow base
Apply a shimmery ivory shadow onto the entire eyelid, up to the brow bone. I’m using MAC eye shadow in “Ricepaper”
Step 3: Line the lower lash line with green eyeliner
Saturate a firm angled liner brush (Mint Brush #26) by rubbing it onto the tip of a MAC Kohl Pencil in “Minted”. Once the brush is loaded with color, trace a line, using small strokes, from the inner corner of the lower lash line, toward the outer corner of the eye.
Step 4: Apply Shadow liner to inner corner of the eye
To smooth out and set the liner, layer a frosted eye shadow (in a similar shade) to the inner corner of the eye and lightly blend out toward the middle of the eye. This will amplify and illuminate the color and create added dimension to the line. I’m using MAC eye shadow in “Steamy”
Step 5: Repeat steps 3 and 4 on the upper lash line.
Step 6: Tight Line the eyes
To intensify the look and to create a clean sleek look, line the inner rim of the eye lid with MAC “Minted” Kohl Eye Pencil. You can opt to use a different shade for added contrast, or stick to a monochromatic finish as seen here.
Step 7: Highlight under the eyes and the peak points of the face
I applied concealer under my eyes to minimize imperfections and then used a highlighter pen to brighten under the eyes and peak points of the face (as seen in the above diagram). This technique really brightens the face and enhances the bone structure. I can’t live without this MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter in “Radiant Rose”. Be sure to use a foundation brush to press in and blend the highlighter out for a soft finish.
Step 8: Apply blush
Select a peachy-pink blush color and apply it 2 fingers away from the nostril (apples of the cheeks) using and upward sweeping motion toward the temple area. In this photo I’m using MAC Powder Blush in “Blushbaby”
Step 9: Complete look
To complete the look, select a sheer lip color in a light pink shade like the Dior Addict Lip Glow .
