In my last makeup tutorial, I showed you how to create a flawless day makeup that takes only five steps and 5 minute to apply.  This week, I’m showing you how to transition that clean day makeup into a quick and easy to achieve evening look, using only a few additional products.   The idea behind this makeup style was inspired by the 80’s and is my toned-down version of Beyonce”s makeup design at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. Now, let’s keep in mind that we’re still in our summer season and I didn’t want to go too over-the-top with a dramatic blacked out smoky eye.  I still wanted to maintain an effortless vibe with this makeup; something I could create while on vacation or going from work to dinner out with friends.  I also wanted to showcase that you don’t always have to wear eyeliner on you upper lid (like a traditional cat-eye).  Wearing liner on the lower lash line creates a more edgy look that can compliment both a nude and/or bold lip color.

Before

Here’s a recap of how I achieved this day makeup look.  I kept it simple and used Mereadesso’s Tinted All-in-One Moisturizer in “Light”  to even out my complexion.  I then added  NARS Bronzing Powder in “Laguna” to contour my face and to create a soft sun-kissed glow.  To enhance my eyes, I framed them by filling in my eyebrows with Stila Stay All Day Precision Glide Brow Pencil, and simply coated my lashes with Estee Lauder’s “Little Black Primer” mascara.  And finally on my lips, I layered on my Mereadesso Tinted Lip Treat in “Burgundy”.

Step 1: Apply eye shadow

Using a crease blending brush (Mint Brush #20), blend on MAC “Amber Lights” eye shadow on the entire eye lid and into the crease.

Next, sweep the same color as shown above onto the lower lash line, this time using a tapered domed shadow brush like Mint Brush #24.

Step 3: Brighten under the eyes with concealer

To brighten and clean up under the eye, I’m using Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Concealer #325.  If you’ve never tried this concealer, you’ll love that it reduces the appearence of fine lines and creates a very natural radiant finish.  It’s also oil-free and provides medium coverage.

Step 4: Illuminate the brown bone

Apply a frost or satin eye shadow to the brow bone to highlight the eyes and to create softness.  I’m using “Hey” from the MAC Warm Neutral Eye Shadow Palette.  I  have to add that I’m in LOVE with this shadow kit!  The colors in this palette are extremely versatile and work beautifully for creating a soft day look or a full-on smoky look.  It’s definitely an investment that is worth every penny!

Step 5: Rim the lower lash line.

Rim the lower lash line with a liner color of your choice.  To try something other than the typical black or brown, I’m using MAC Pearlglide Intense Eye Liner in “Undercurrent” , an aqua blue-black liner with sparkle and shimmer.  Use an angled liner brush to smudge out the liner, as this will create a softer line.

Step 6: Define the lips with lip pencil

I already applied the Mereadesso Lip Tint in Burgandy, so to define the mouth shape and deepen the color, I lined filled in my lips with with MAC Lip Pencil in “Burgundy”

Step 7: Illuminate the skin

To highlight and illuminate the skin, I dusted on Make Up For Ever’s Pro Sculpting Duo on my cheekbones and peak points of the face, to create a strobing effect on the skin.
