If you asked me to pick one makeup look that would stand the test of time and work with just about every fashion trend known to man, I’d choose the Cat-Eye. It’s a makeup style that accentuates the eyes, works for any occasion and age, and the thickness of the liner can be customized to suit your mood. I’d add that a little face contouring is a great way to enhance this look, when done in a tasteful and subtle way. Let’s get started on this week’s tutorial…
Step 1: I started by applying Smashbox Photo Finish Priming Oil onto clean moisturized skin to provide a radiant, luminous glow. It helps to reduce the look of dry fine lines and creates a perfect canvas for applying foundation.
Step 2: Using my Foundation Brush, I evened out my complexion with Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation in #118. I find that this foundation works best with my skin and provides an even, seamless finish.
Step 3: To create my black cat-eye, I tested out the Estee Lauder Super Noir Shadow and Liner. I love creating a super dark smoky eye with this product it glides on easily and blends out nicely with my finger. Today, I saturated my angled liner brush with the tip of the pencil, then drew a line onto my eyelid. I went a little thicker with the liner and extended the outer corners for added definition.
Step 4: I curled my lashes and coated them with Stila Huge Extreme Lash Mascara.
Step 5: I rimmed my waterline with NYX Wonder Pencil to brighten and open up the eyes. I’m sure I’ve mentioned in the past how much I love this product and that it’s a must-have in my makeup bag, right? Still feel the same way!
Step 6: One of my biggest pet peeves is when women over contour their faces. To the point where you can see racing stripes. Now don’t get me know wrong, I like contouring my face to enhance my features, but let’s not overly exaggerate it people – Haha! Burberry Beauty launced these super handy Face Contour and and Highlighter Pens.
Start by drawing a diagonal-forward line below the cheek-bone, in the hallows of the face, using the Burberry Face Contour (Medium No.1).
Use your finger or a foundation brush to gently blend out the line using quick diagonal-back motions.
Next, draw a diagonal-forward line onto the peek point of the cheek bone, using Burberry Fresh Glow Highlighting Luminous Pen. Blend out and into the contour using your finger to create a soft shimmer finish.
Step 7: Set the contour pen using bronzer or a translucent powder. This will prevent the product from transferring or slipping off the skin.
Step 8: As an alternative to the deep berry and red shades we’ve been wearing all winter, why not try a bright pop of orange. The Burberry Lip Velvet in Coral Orange (No. 411) is one of my favorite lip colors. This formula offers a long lasting, matte finish that goes on smooth and lasts all day without drying the lips.
As I said earlier, this makeup look is appropriate for any occasion, outfit and age. It’s clean and fresh, works for day or evening and it’s so easy to accomplish. What more can you ask for in a makeup look! Happy Weekend, everyone!
