Have you ever seen a Momiji doll? Momiji is a traditional, colorfully hand-painted, Japanese brand of dolls which have a small space in the base to hide a secret message, dream or wish. When I looked into it more, I feel in love with the concept and of course these adorable figurines. The thing I love most about anything Japanese is the artful and corky nature of their style. They pay such close attention to detail and put so much thought and care into their work. I couldn’t help but be reminded of this beautiful art when I picked up these gorgeous Sophia Webster sandals. Much like the Momiji dolls, Sophia Webster designs her shoes using unique shapes and colors, which naturally send a message of happiness, joy and love. When I slip her shoes on my feet, they instantly brighten my spirit and bring magic to my outfits.
Black and white; a classic color combination that looks smart and chic, no matter the occasion! I picked up this horizontal paneled top when I was in New York. I was drawn to the perforated fabric and leather piping detail along trim. This quintessential nautical strip is a classic print that is always on point no matter the season. I paired it with my black culottes from Club Monaco. TREND ALERT! – The culottes are back and are the new must-have wardrobe essentials of the season! I love this cropped silhouette because they wear like a skirt and provide comfort like a trouser. The combination of masculine and feminine elements, along with the neutral color palette lends itself to incorporating a splash of personality with these gorgeous and colorful “Selina” sandals by Sophia Webster sandals.
To compliment the symmetrical balance of the black and white outfit, I decided to style my hair in a clean and sleek pony tail. I started with a center parting, then flat ironed my hair. Once each section was smooth, I bruised it into a ponytail, secured it with an elastic and sprayed it down with KMS Hair Play – Dry Wax Spray. This product is traditionally used to create texture in the hair and it’s great for smoothing out fly-away hairs or for up-styling.
To get this look, I used the following products…
