The sun has been shining on our rainy City and you know what that means
it’s dress season!! I found this sheer maxi dress at Value Village, a few months ago, for $8 and I couldn’t resist scooping it up. For this week’s style series, I wanted to style this pretty ‘lil thang two ways, to quickly demonstrate how to get the most out of one piece. In all honestly, this dress could be styled up to four or five ways, so keep your eyes peeled for future blog posts as this dress may make another appearance!
Wardrobe Details: Casual Day Look
I love the look a a maxi dress with converse sneakers. There’s something about feminine flow of this piece when combined with sporty and easy look of a denim jacket and chucks! I can’t live without my converse sneakers and wear them with almost everything; not to mention my LV “Never Full Bag” and Ray Ban “Clubmaster Classics” Sunnies! I feel that each of these pieces are a wardrobe essentials, as they are timeless and can be style in so many different ways and for various occasions. This would be a great look for when you’re traveling, going on a casual lunch meeting or running errands.
Outfit Details: Evening Look
The shape of this dress is so pretty; deep plunging “V” neckline with a billowy top, slender sleeves and a long flowy skirt. It’s extremely comfortable and easily transitions into something a little more formal by wearing it with these ultra sexy and sparkly T-Strap pointy pumps. I was going for a vintage vibe and accessorized the outfit with this vintage clutch purse (which, once upon a time, belonged to my mother), adding a romantic and delicate touch. Of course I have to mention my jewellery, which really elevates the look and make it more complete. It’s all in the fine details, so I started with the Elsa Corsi Tassel necklace to compliment the deep “V” neck on the dress. I then layered my favorite “Bird” necklace over top, and finished with my large cocktail ring. Although each piece comes from a different store, they all have a similar look and feel which worked beautifully together.
To create this deep finger wave look, I started by priming the hair with KMS Hot Flex Spray, for heat protection and hold. I lightly blow dried the product into dry hair, then divided my hair into to two horizontal sections, from ear to ear. I clipped away the top half of my hair and began waving the lower half of my hair in two sub sections. Using the KQC Xtreme Deep Waver, I placed the mid-lengths and ends of my hair in the waver and clamped down on it for a few seconds, then released the hair and left it to cool down. I repeated this procedure until the bottom half of my hair was completed. I then dropped the top half of my hair, divided it into four sub-sections and repeated the same procedure as previous until my entire head was waved. Once the hair cooled down, I gently brushed it out and sprayed KMS Hair Play Dry Wax Spray for diminutional texture and to define the wave. This is a great way to create a vintage 1920’s inspired look with a modern and wearable finish.
To get the look, I used the following products…
