Who’s ready to celebrate Canada’s big 1 -5- 0? I sure am; and I’m wearing pink to the party – haha!
Not only does 2017 mark Canada’s 150th birthday, it’s also a significant year for me because I’m celebrating my 20th year in the beauty and fashion business! It was July of 1997 when I officially became a certified makeup and hair artist and booked my first significant wedding gig! That year, I also landed a job at the Club Monaco Cosmetics makeup counter on Robson Street, which then lead to a store manager and trainer role for 6 years. That experienced launched my career as a fashion consultant. I eventually completed my hairdressing diploma and joined the team at a high-end hair salon, in Holt Renfrew, where I worked and became friends with so many inspiring and talented people. I dabbled in reality TV (W Network), opened my own studio and became a makeover columnist in The Province/ Vancouver Sun Newspaper! And now, 20 years later, I’m still running a successful Makeup, Hair and Lifestyle business (Style Inc turns 6 this year!), I’ve surrounded myself with an incredible team of artists and industry professionals nation wide. I’ve created a lifestyle brand/label, NadittudeTM, that I am extremely proud of. And as a bonus, I’ve been blessed with so many wonderful on-air and media opportunities! All of this was achieved with steady hard work, respect and dedication, and a passion that runs deeper than you can imagine. Most importantly, I was supported by the love and loyalty of my friends, clients and colleges, like you; who fuel me with encouragement during the highs and the lows. There have been lessons learned over the last 2 decades and so many more exciting “aha” moments to come, and for that I humbled and grateful. Here’s to another incredible 20 years!
Outfit Details:
As much as I like the color red, I have very little of it in my wardrobe and I much prefer wearing various shades of pink. And this coral pink, linen tunic dress is going to be on repeat this summer! It’s a gorgeous statement piece with loads of personality. The intricate floral appliqué on the front really gives this piece a high-end and expensive feel, while the built-in pockets add an element of comfort and convenient. Plus, who doesn’t love dresses with pockets?! I really like that this dress offers versatility and can work for a multitude of summer events and occasions. It’s lightweight and perfect for traveling, AND it’s a thrift store find (only $12) ! I mean, what more could a girl ask for, right? I’ve styled here with my favorite Sophia Webster “Flamigo Frill” leather stilettos (last season), which are so fun and quirky!
To switch it up!
For a more casual weekend vibe, I’d opt for either my classic white Converse sneakers or my white Madrid Essentials Birkenstocks. For a classic “Sunday Best” feel, I’d slip on a pair medium height espadrille.
Happy Canada Day Weekend, Everyone! I’m so proud to be Canadian-Italian and am forever thankful to my Dad for deciding to immigrate to this great, strong and diverse country! I am truly blessed to be living my Canadian dream with a little NadittudeTM!
