I think I speak for many of us when I say that one of my favorite HBO television series of all time is “Sex in the City”, hands down!  Women all over the world were able to relate to each of the characters on this show, in their own way; Carrie Bradshaw, Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, Samantha Jones and Miranda Hobbes, and were inspired by each of their individual style.  And who’s kidding who, we would ALL kill to attain a wardrobe like Carrie’s, especially her collection of Manolo Blahnik and Jimmy Choo shoes!  Of course we have the one and only, Patricia Field, to thank for the rare and fantastic assortment of frocks and accessories we’ve see over the years, which most girls could only dream of having!  In my opinion, Miss Field is the quintessential stylist and master of mixing high-end designer with mainstream fashion and vintage pieces.  Her wardrobing abilities are effortless and frankly genius!

In honor of these strong, stylish, beautiful and diverse group of women, I’d like to take you inside my closet, albeit not as exquisite at SJP’s “Rockin Walk-in” , and share a few of my favorite vintage pieces I’ve collected over the years.  As I mentioned in last week’s post, I love second-hand and vintage shopping.  Many of my beloved wardrobe pieces are from Value Village and with those pieces,  I have been able to recreate many runway inspired looks on a budget, leaving room to splurge on a few designer items to elevate the overall look.  I hope this session of “playing dress up” inspires you all to get your feet wet, and explore the world of thrift shopping.  It’s a great way of adding a little #NadittudeTM to your wardrobe, which you’re gonna love!

This is my main closet, where I house most of my shoes, accessories and daily wardrobe.  I use the closet in the guest room to house my seasonal wardrobe and vintage garments and the closet in the main hall way for all of my outerwear (I swear, my husband has his own personal full-sized closet too!)  I had closet organizers built into all of the closets in the house to keep everything in it’s place, and installed hooks to hold my bags and accessories.

These are my black vintage hat boxes, where I keep my hats (
of course) as well as a few other vintage scarfs and fur stoles…

When I tried this dress on, it fit me like a glove.  It required no alterations; I simply dry-cleaned it and voila!

I picked this silk, drawstring skirt up for $9.  It’s incredibly comfortable and I love that it has pockets; not to mention the color!

This boxy silk blouse is the perfect coordinate for any outfit!  And these cobalt blue suede walking shorts, only $8.99 — “I DIE!”.  At first look, one might passed them off  due to their boxy shape and original long hemline, which dropped below my knee. I simply had my tailor hem them to my desired length and take them in on the sides a bit, which cost me roughly $50.

I’m seeing these full skirt everywhere, in mini and tea length.  I picked this one up for $12 and it fit perfectly!  The great thing about this skirt is that it can be style formally or casually.  Also, I love that it is not overly flared, nor overly pleated, which can add unwanted volume in the tummy area.

This graphic print dress was floor length and extremely “trapeze” in shape.  After having it hemmed and taken in a little, it now fits beautifully.  I gave the rest of the fabric to a friend who made two small throw cushion.

I saw a golden glimmer from corner of my eye and that’s when I discovered this beautifully detailed brocade sleeveless top!  It was missing a few buttons on the back, which I had replaced, and it was as good as new (if not better)!  And the detail on this fabric is extraordinary!

This would be a perfect dressed to get married in, don’t ‘cha think?  I actually wore this for my engagement photos 9 years ago and still enjoy wearing it (although it does fit a smidge smaller these days).  I paired it with this vintage velvet cumberbund and added a little sparkle with this vintage Sherman broach (which I also wore on my wedding day!).

I wore this outfit to my cousin’s wedding 5 years ago in Italy.  I wanted something a little “Sophia Loren” inspired and I found it!

I love the crystal beadinga round the trim of this blazer.  It’s adds the perfect amount of sparkle and compliments the design of these vintage shoes so well.  When stylized with a modern skinny trousers, no one could ever tell I picked it up for only $15!
