This week’s style series brings us to one of the prettiest, most stylish fashion boutiques in Vancouver; Rebecca Bree. Owner, Rebecca Rawlison, and I met several years back at a Holt Renfrew store event. We were in the ladies room powdering our noses when I saw her gorgeous blonde locks and infectious smile. She was touching up her lipstick and I loved the color (YSL Pink #22) and at that moment, I had a girl crush! Years later, I still admire this beautiful woman and respect her brilliant and courageous decision to pursue her dream of being a business owner. I’m telling you, this gal is spectacular and you MUST visit her beautiful store!
Outfit Details:
I couldn’t shoot a style series at Rebecca’s Boutique and not wear something floral; that would be sacrilegious! Hence, my favorite floral-print Manolo Blahnik pumps. They’re the Yin to this outfits’ Yang (i.e.: distressed jeans and a basic white t-shirt). I love the contrast of masculine and feminine, and I especially enjoy wearing my “splurge” and “save” items together. To dress up this otherwise über casual ensemble, and to give it a feminine flair, I layered it with this beautiful and dainty vintage mandarin collared eyelet coat. I picked this up at Value Village and it’s one of my all-time favorite vintage scores!! I’d say this is the perfect outfit to wear to Sunday brunch, date night and yes… even shopping at RB!
When did you open your boutique and how did you come up with the design concept?
I opened the store in September of 2012, which was a dream come true. It was truly a labour of love as my fiancé built everything from scratch. I wanted to create a feminine space filled with all of my favourite things – French provincial chairs, flowers and vintage-inspired décor. The wonderful designers at The Cross really helped me when it came time to pick fabrics and wallpaper.
What can customers expect when they shop in your store?
Down to earth staff, attention to detail, exceptional service, exclusive brands and a really comfortable shopping experience that makes you feel good.
Who is your style inspiration/ icon?
This changes all the time, but right now I am inspired by Emmanuelle Alt, Maja Wyh, Tash Sefton and Nicole Richie.
What is a staple piece that every woman should have in her wardrobe?
A great tuxedo blazer that can easily go from day to night.
What are your 5 beauty products you can’t live without?
Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in beige, Laura Mercier concealer, Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, NARS blush in madly (I use it as my bronzer) and NARS blush in orgasm.
Accessories:
Every girl needs to own a pair of pearl earrings! These twin set, double-sided pearl studs, from Jeweliette Jewellery, are classic and quite unique. I love the unexpected peek-a-boo pearl detail behind the ear lobe. Plus they work double duty as an ever day earring or for an elegantly understated evening look.
You have such exquisite taste for fashion. How do you determine what brands to carry in your store?
When Christina and I see a collection it’s really about how it speaks to us. If we feel something spark, we bring it in. We will always have our favourite recognizable labels in the store, but love bringing in brands that no one else has to help our customers discover something new. It has to be a brand that we believe in, that has good quality and a good hand, and has to feel amazing on the body.
Based on my 7 Style Sacraments, what would you say your Style Category is — Casual, Classic, Charming, Chic, or Couture?
Chic – Edgy and cool
Priceless:
The look on my face when I realized that I couldn’t leave the store without purchasing this stellar outfit! Daniella, you captured this so perfectly!
Rebecca’s Picks:
