Red. A color known for it’s energizing qualities, it excites the emotions and motivates us to take action. It’s warm and positive, masculine and strong, and in Eastern cultures it’s a color of good look. These, and the fact that this gorgeous Alexnder Wang “Mini Rockie” bag caught my eye at Holt Renfrew, gave me every reason to invested in it. I don’t have a lot of red in my wardrobe (unless you count my signature red lipstick as part of my wardrobe) but I do love incorporating a bit of an unexpected hit of color for a little personality.
Outfit Details:
When pulling an outfit together, I always suggest my Style Sacrament “DLDB ™” – Dark, Light, Dull Bright. I believe that a balanced and cohesive outfit consists of contrast, color and texture – aka: something dark, light, dull and bright.
This week I styled my black Club Monaco “Karter Culottes” with this over sized windowpane print vent blouse from Winners. The black bottoms and cream top are contrasting and balance each other (Dark and Light). The windowpane print in the blouse, the pebbled texture of the leather purse and the black suede pumps each add an element of texture and dimension to the ensemble (Dull). Finally, the silver hardware on the base of my bag, along with my arm cuff, add the shine factor, and when you look at the overall outfit, the purse plays the leading roll (Bright).
Lipstick:
I looove me a red lip! I alternate between three or four different brands and shade. This week I’m wearing MAC “Ruby Woo”, which is a very matte and vivid blue-red.
