This week’s makeup tutorial features beauty products from Shopper’s Drug Mart’s Beauty Boutique. Pur Minerals, Stila, Paul & Joe Beaute and Revlon Cosmetics are a few of my favorites, and here’s how I’m using them to achieve this before and after look…
Step 1: Start with a freshly cleansed and moisturized face. If you’re looking for a great skin care line that is great quality and reasonably priced, I suggest Nuxe. You can find it in the Dermatology aisle at any Shopper’s Drug Mart location. I used it for many years and continue to alternate it between a few brands, but Nuxe really makes my skin feel fantastic. My personal favorite is the Nuxe Comforting Cleansing Milk for normal to dry/sensitive skin because it cleanses my skin AND removes my makeup (even waterproof!)
Step 2: Apply Paul and Joe Pore Smoothing Primer to the T-Zone of the face, to mattify the area and to reduce the appearence of large pores.
Step 3: Even out the complexion with foundations. This week I’m using the Pur Minerals Liquid Veil Spray on Foundation. It’s a mineral based foundation and contains Liquid Crystals, which retain moisture and reflect light for a dewy soft finish, and PÜR’s proprietary Ceretin® Complex for a satiny smooth complexion.
Tip:
* For best results, spray the foundation directly onto your foundation brush (or on the back of you hand and then dip your foundation brush into it) then apply directly onto the face. Start from the center of the face and work you way out. I find that spraying the product directly on the face is challenging as it has a strong direct spray and it can get a little messy.
* Also, rather than blending it onto the face, stipple or press the foundation in the skin for a more natural airbrushed finish.
Step 4: Apply bronzer to warm up the complexion and lightly contour the face. I’m using Stila Stay All Day Bronzer in medium. This is one of my favorite bronzers because it has a matte-satin finish, it’s waterproof and it doesn’t oxidize or turn orange.
Step 5: To create this cool “Arabic” cat eye, I’m using Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen. It’s long wearing and extremely user friendly. It’s felt pen tip allows for easy and no mess application.
Start by applying a line on the upper eye lid, extending beyond the outer corner of the eyes. Next, draw a line along the lower lash line (in the same manner as above) and connect the lines at the outer corner of the eyes.
Step 6: To define the eyes, I rimmed the water line using an angled liner brush and a matte black eye shadow. I also pressed this shadow overtop of my liquid liner to set it and darken the color.
Step 7: Curl the lashes and apply Pur Minerals Big Look Lenghening Mascara. I like that this mascara contains Argon Oli, which helps to nourish the lashes, and it’s clumb-free!
Step 8: Pur Minerals makes this really cool rose colored skin illuminator call Pur Rocks. It provides a perfect hint of color to the cheeks, while creating a soft glow to the skin.
Step 9: Last but not least, I applied a bold red lip (you know how much I LOVE me a red lip…) to bring the look together and create a fun “rock and roll chic” look. This is Pur Minerals Chateau De Vine Mineral Lipstick, in Starlet, is such a great blue-red color, plus it’s Paraben-free and Gluten-Free. Cheers to that!
And here you have it, cool rocker-chic, arabic eyes with a bold red lip. Perfect for the weekend!
