It was a perfect day to take a walk in the park, so I did… in my full skirt and stilettos, of course!
The classic full skirt was huge on the runways for Spring/Summer 2014 and it looks like it’s here to stay for Fall! I’ve been seeing this Ladylike silhouette in mini, mid length, and my favorite, knee length (or just below the knee). This black and white plaid skirt caught my eye while I was thrift shopping and had to have it! I like the way it draws attention to the leanest part of my body( my calfs) and shows off these gorgeous Sophia Webster shoes — I DIE!. To define my waist and to juxtapose the girlish flair of the skirt, I styled it with this distressed and tailored denim vest by Joe’s Jeans. I call this look “a little country and a little rock n’ roll”!
I first started off by evening out my complexion using Make up For ever HD Primer #0 and HD Foundation #118. Next, to create a strong winged cat-eye liner, I started by applying matte nude eye shadow on the entire eyelid (Makeup For Ever #35). Using a waterproof eye liner (Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes 0L), I rimmed the inner corner of my eyes, as if to create a “V” shape, then rimmed the bottom waterline using the same product. I then added Pur Minerals Pur Intensity black gel liner to the upper lash line using an angled brush, to extend the line up and out. For added depth and definition, I contoured my eyes using taupe brown eye shadow and created a cut crease. I then finished the look by curling my lash and applying two coats of black mascara. For a hint of color, I dusted MAC “Buff” blush on the apples of my cheeks. Lastly I applied Make Up For Ever #40 lipstick to my lips for a more demure look and to keep the focus on the eyes.
To create this “lived-in” voluminous up style, I back brushed the crown section of my hair, smoothed it over gently and gathered it into a low pony tail. For a matte finish with added texture I sprayed KMS Dry Wax into the hair and voila!
Have a lovely weekend, Everyone!
